Dr. Deena Sher grew up in Toronto, Canada. She followed after her mother and older sister, both of whom are general dentists. She came to the United States to train at the renowned University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
While there, she met and married her husband, Dr Michael Sher. During her training, she received numerous awards and conducted research on cellular healing and diabetes. After obtaining her dental degree, Dr. Sher dedicated an additional year for further training at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. There, she gained experience placing and restoring dental implants, treating head and neck trauma, and managing advanced prosthodontic treatments. She honed these skills practicing as a general dentist in Michigan.
Dr. Sher then pursued her passion for periodontics, completing a three-year residency at the University of Detroit Mercy, and receiving a Masters degree and certificate in Periodontics. She then completed board examinations both in the United States and Canada, making her a Fellow in Periodontics with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a Diplomate in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry with the American Board of Periodontology. She practiced in Michigan, prior to relocating to Ohio with her family. Doctors Sher has three beautiful children.
